It’s One Louder, Isn’t It?

Well, in case you missed it, we’re one louder than we were yesterday. This week, you’ll start to see civil3d.com links are registering as Civil4d.com. The domain change process has started, but you’re at the new home for the old blog.

You’ll still see the same cadre of writers, opinionators, rabble-rousers and the like, and if you want to be part of that crew, let me know. I’m still here as an Editor of sorts, but this site really is all about you, sharing your knowledge and picking up some bits too.

    Rabble-Rousers?

  2. At least he didn’t call us neer-do-wells!

I like it! But why not turn loose the NOS and go civil5D, or civil6D, or even the much coveted civil-nD? Somebody may go one more and they can turn it up when they need it and outplay you.

Glad to see the new home. “One Louder” I like it…

Thanks for the Spinal Tap reference!

Nigel Tufnel: The numbers all go to eleven. Look, right across the board, eleven, eleven, eleven and…
Marty DiBergi: Oh, I see. And most amps go up to ten?
    Nigel Tufnel: Exactly.
Marty DiBergi: Does that mean it’s louder? Is it any louder?
Nigel Tufnel: Well, it’s one louder, isn’t it? It’s not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You’re on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you’re on ten on your guitar. Where can you go from there? Where?
    Marty DiBergi: I don’t know.
Nigel Tufnel: Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do?
Marty DiBergi: Put it up to eleven.
Nigel Tufnel: Eleven. Exactly. One louder.
Marty DiBergi: Why don’t you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder?
Nigel Tufnel: [pause] These go to eleven.

very clever new name. I like it. I thought you guys were talking about Civil 3D and Navisworks at first and moving into the 4th dimension of time. Maybe I can blog about it sometime up here??? Have a good one.

    Dave 🙂

Announcing the new Civil4D.com site by using Spinal Tap is nothing short of brilliant, for that reason alone I will be back often. Congratulations on the new site…… and thanks…….

PS – maybe you can work stonehenge into a future post….?

    • Steve says:

Right, when they designed the Stonehenge assembly, they had their Ambient Settings configured improperly. So all the units were off by a factor of 12.

  8. Mark Spatz says:

What is brilliant is being able to get the YouTube video embedded into the site. James how did you do that, I can never get it to work!?!?

    • Grab the embed code on YouTube, then change to HTML view in your post editor and paste it in. Since I only post a couple of times a year now, I typically write using the online WP editor, but I think the same would apply in Writer.
