Scattershooting: Marathons, AU, Golf, and a Call to Writers

First things first, I’m a whopping 17 days to my first and last marathon. I’m running on October 25th in the Marine Corp Marathon to raise money for Push America. You can learn more about Push America by visiting  www.pushamerica.org and more about the Wounded Warrior Project at  www.woundedwarriorproject.org. Push America and the Wounded Warrior Project are both 501(c)3 organizations and your donation may qualify for corporate matching.

If Civil3d.com helps you do your job, please consider making a donation. I’ll send a dual-signed copy of Mastering to anyone or any company that donates $100. Consider it $50 for the book, $50 for the blog, and you’re still way ahead. I’m very close to my fund-raising goal and appreciate your support.

Make the jump to read more about AU and the annual golf outing.

The post rates have been a bit slow of late. It always happens this time of year as the Civil3d.com crew gets into writing for AU and the blog feels a little neglect. If you’re interested in writing a few bits, sharing your genius with the world, and improving your resume by being part of the most popular Civil 3D related site on the net, drop me a line as well. Civil3d.com is a community effort now, and you should share your brilliance!

AU is mere months away, and early registration closes Friday. Jump over and register now, you’ll save $500. I’m teaching a class on using C3D with the HEC-RAS extension and the newly acquired BOSS software to get flood plain analysis data in and out of your model. AU will be significantly smaller this year, so if you’ve missed out on hanging with your favorite people like Dana, and Jason in the past, this is your year!

The thing you’re waiting for: Golf on Monday at AU. With the reduced numbers, we probably won’t be able to get a group rate. We typically pay around $100 for the round, and we tee off between 10 and 1 on Monday morning. If you’re interested drop me an e-mail and we’ll start forming up the groups and picking a good course. If you have a favorite place in Vegas, let me know that too! My mail is simply wedding@ this domain. Please put AU GOLF as the subject line so the mail filter doesn’t eat it!

    James,
Congrats on making it to the taper!

I said the same thing prior to and during my first. Don’t be surprised if your perspective changes once you have finished.

  2. BAH! The abuse has just been way too much. I’m quite content to go the half, rather enjoyed that distance. Soon as I crossed 20, it got ugly. My wife is ready for this to end as well. Every day is about getting up for a run, or going to bed early for one.
