No Sampling for You! Locked Layers and Alignments

While working on a sanitary piping project, we’ve been locking our alignment layer to prevent accidental slips.  However, today we ran into this problem:  Sampling a new alignment returned a dud profile view.

It turns out that when your alignment object layer is LOCKED, not only can you not edit the alignment, but you cannot sample against it either.

Everything looks normal the whole way through- this is the first box I checked.  I thought maybe we forgot to click ADD.  But we didn’t.  It was fine.

Unlocking the layer and resampling, then recreating the Profile View fixed the issue.

Perhaps this isn’t a big thing, but it is something I never really thought about and I figured I would share.
