Question for all the Land Desktop Users

I just got another question from a user who is having the corrupt Civil.CUI problem. I really wish Autodesk would address this issue, but the support specialists I call tell me they have no idea what I’m talking about. So I’m polling you, the user. Tell me your problems, if you’ve had any. Also, I’d be glad to hear of any solutions you’ve found for it.

Well, I was going to place a poll here, but it appears that Blogger doesn’t like Java script. So post your comments, people!

Oh, yea. I have seen this one too many times. Not everyday, but when a user is complaining about their missing Civil menus, it’s usually while I’m in the middle of something else.

I just created a lisp routine to copy the virgin copy from the UserDataCache directory back into the users Support directory. If the one in UserDataCache is bad also (making me suspect the install did that one…), then I keep a read-only copy on the network which it grabs as the source.

I have had this problem many times since we switched to 2k6. The fix I saw our IT guy do is something from the registry. So if all my menus disappear I just recopy my support directory and it should be like new again? I just zipped my whole support directory onto a flash drive just in case there are other issues.

I just had a user with this problem as well. I always check the size of the CivilDesign.cui file and if they are having problems, the CUI has a size of about 34 or 39 kb. It should be around 374 kb. So I get a copy from the UserDataCache and I keep a good copy on our server.

We have encountered many CUI file corruptions in our office. Usually I would just overwrite all of the users last updated CUI Files with my cui files which are error free. although, I encountered that does not do the trick all the time, I gave-up & had to reinstall ldd6 all over again. real pain.
